Brian C. Newmanย 

Prince Frederick, MD— On Jan.10, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Deputy T. Mohler conducted patrol checks on Market Square Drive, in Prince Frederick, he was notified that Brian Newman, 31, of Prince Frederick had shoplifted food items.ย 

According to court documents, “I (Mohler) the male passenger exit the vehicle and begin to pick up cigarette butts in the parking lot, smoking them. Also, I observed the male passenger enter and exit Wawa several times.”ย 

“The male was confronted by an employee. I (Mohler) observed the employee speaking with Newman and subsequently observed the male walk back into Wawa,” according to court documents.ย 

“When asked if everything was okay, the employee of Wawa advised he observed the male remove a candy bar from the shelf and conceal it about his person,” according to court documents.ย 

“In Newman’s left pants pocket was located a Deer Park water bottle, cold to the touch. Newman was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and in the frontย pocket of the sweatshirt was located two Hello Caramel Stick (candy bars),” according to court documents.ย 

Newman was arrested for theft less than $100 and transported to the Detention Center. Newman has a court date scheduled for Feb.24 at the Calvert County District Court.ย 

Newman faces a maximum jail sentence of three months and or a maximum fine of $500. The investigating officer, in this case, was Dep. Mohler of Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.ย
