Joseph L. Dumpson

California, MD— On March 27, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Gerard Mushchette responded to Worth Ave in California for the report of a domestic assault occurringย in the Burger King parking lot.ย 

When Mushchette arrived on the scene, he made contact with the victim in the parking lot area of Burger King. The victim advised, “approximately 25 minutes earlier she as assaulted by the defendant/boyfriend who was identified as Joseph L. Dumpson, 31, of Great Mills,” according to charging documents.ย 

The victim advised Dumpson initiated a verbal argument based on infidelity accusations. The victim advised, “she attempted to walk away however Dumpson followed still yelling stating, ‘don’t walk away from me’. The victim stated she turned to face Dumpson, and he punched her with a closed fist in the face area,” according to charging documents.ย 

The victim also stated Dumpson grabbed my (victim) leg and pulled me to the ground. Contact was made with Dumpson at Church Drive. Dumpson attempted to flee on foot. However, he complied with verbal commands and was detained.ย 

After Dumpson was detained he denied punching the victim in the face. According to charging documents, “there were visible signs of injury to the victim’s face area.”ย 

Dumpson was arrested and transported to the St.Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with second-degree assault . At this time, Dumpson does not have a scheduled court date. Dumpson faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.ย
