PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Mechanicsville man is facing a cascade of criminal charges after a stolen truck stop escalated into a multi-county police pursuit, ending with his arrest inside a vacant D.C. residence.
On the morning of April 16, 2025, Deputy K. Grabill of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a black 2013 Ford E450 near Route 4 and Town Center Boulevard. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Alexander Wade Foote of Lexington Park, was reportedly clocked at 80 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. As the truck pulled into the rear lot of Dunkirk’s McDonald’s, Foote exited to close the rear gates on the stake bed. When informed that the vehicle’s tags were stolen—and that the vehicle itself was flagged as stolen—Foote abruptly fled the scene, initiating a high-speed pursuit.
According to law enforcement, the pursuit extended across multiple jurisdictions, with Foote reaching speeds of up to 94 mph, passing cars on shoulders, running red lights, and driving into oncoming lanes. Deputy Grabill attempted multiple PIT maneuvers in both Calvert and Anne Arundel counties, none of which succeeded due to the vehicle’s size and weight.
The chase reached Suitland Parkway, where Foote rammed several law enforcement vehicles—including those operated by Deputy Morgal, Deputy Bowen, and Sgt. Norton—disabling at least three cruisers.
The pursuit concluded near Southern Avenue SE in the District, where officers managed to box in the truck against a concrete barrier. Foote then fled on foot, sprinting through a tree line and breaking into a vacant home in the Shipley Terrace neighborhood. MPD officers responded and located Foote hiding in a bathtub. He was taken into custody without further incident and later transported back to Calvert County.
The stolen vehicle was impounded, and its registered owner was contacted.
Foote now faces multiple charges in Calvert County, including three counts each of first-degree assault and second-degree assault against law enforcement, theft of a motor vehicle valued between $25,000 and $100,000, unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle, obstruction, hindering, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic violations.
Following his initial appearance, Foote was held without bond after a bail review hearing before Judge Sally C. Chester on April 23. His trial is scheduled for June 4 in Calvert District Court.
Five patrol vehicles were confirmed disabled during the incident. All events were captured on body-worn cameras. The case remains open pending further proceedings.
