MECHANICSVILLE, Md., — One person was airlifted to a trauma center late Friday night following a serious vehicle crash that left them trapped inside the wreckage, according to emergency radio traffic and responding agencies.

At approximately 11:22 p.m. on May 23, 2025, units from the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and other St. Mary’s County agencies were dispatched to the 27100 block of Mechanicsville Road for a reported motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

According to initial reports, two occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. One individual was trapped, prompting a rapid response from local rescue crews. Rescue teams worked swiftly to extricate the trapped occupant. Within minutes, crews completed the extrication and transferred the patient to EMS for emergency care.

Due to the nature of the injuries, a medevac helicopter was requested. Trooper 7 responded to the designated landing zone at Country Lakes Baseball Field. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. No updates have been released regarding the condition of the victims.
