LOTHIAN, Md. – Miracle Temple Church in Lothian, Maryland, will host a special Black History Month Celebration Service on Saturday, February 28 at 4:00 PM, inviting the community to gather for an afternoon of reflection, music, storytelling, and inspiration.

This immersive service will take attendees on a meaningful journey through history — traveling back in time through song, narration, and shared community experiences — highlighting the resilience, faith, and contributions of African Americans in Southern Maryland and beyond.

Located at 5501 Sands Road in Lothian, Miracle Temple Church has served the community for generations through worship, outreach, and service initiatives. The church operates a food pantry, clothing assistance programs, and other community support efforts that continue to impact families across Southern Anne Arundel County. Miracle Temple Church has also previously been featured by BayNet for its community outreach and service work.

“This celebration is more than a program — it’s an experience,” said Assistant Pastor Justin Wills of Miracle Temple Church. “We want our community to travel back in time with us through music, narration, and storytelling that honors our history and inspires our future. Black history is not just something we remember — it’s something we live and continue to build together.”

Wills added, “While we reflect on the past, this service is also about the future — about how we as a community, across all backgrounds, can move forward together in unity, understanding, and purpose. Black History Month reminds us that progress happens when people come together to build something greater than themselves.”

The celebration will feature special remarks from:
• Sheriff Everett Sesker
• The Honorable Carl O. Snowden
• Maryland State Senator Shameka Henson

Each will offer reflections as part of the program’s theme of honoring the past while building toward a stronger, more unified future.

The program will include:
• Live music and inspirational selections
• Historical narration and reflection
• Community engagement
• Special remarks from honored guests

Miracle Temple Church welcomes families, neighbors, and community members from across the region to attend this uplifting and educational event.

Admission is free and open to the public.
