At 9:55 p.m. Friday, a car pulled out in front of a motorcycle traveling on Chancellors Run Road, California, causing the bike to crash into the vehicle.

Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad and Bay District Firefighters responded immediately to the crash, which reported by witnesses as a hit and run.

The motorcycle rider sustained a severe broken leg; a compound fracture.

MSP helicopter Trooper 7 landed near the scene to transport the rider, a white 26-year-old male, to Prince Georges Hospital.

The driver of the car reportedly returned to the scene and was arrested.

St. Maryโ€™s Sheriff Tim Cameron confirmed Saturday that the at-fault driver, Mathew Blankenship, was arrested for DWI.
