Naomi Charna Munson, 75, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on March 19, 2026. On October 18, 1950, Naomi was born in New York to the late Richard and Helene Fishbein.

After graduating from Midwood High School in 1969, she went on to study pre-veterinary medicine at Michigan State University. In 1971 she returned to Brooklyn, where she attended Brooklyn College and completed her undergrad work in Education and continued to complete her Masterโ€™s in Education. 

After graduation, she began work as a teacher for the New York City school system. In the early 90โ€™s she and her son, Ben moved to Falls Church, VA, and she again worked as a teacher in the Fairfax County system. Her passion for education and dedication to her students were evident, as she inspired countless young minds with her enthusiasm and creativity.

Naomi was blessed with three children: Ben Sweet of Brooklyn, NY, Erica Kallberg (Aaron) of Seattle, WA, and Miriam Sweet of Queens, NY. Additionally, she was blessed to be the stepmother of Steve Munson from California and Eric Munson from Maryland.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, butterflies, beading and jewelry-making, and reading. She was also a huge animal lover.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished husband, Nicholas Munson. She is survived by her children and stepchildren, her sister Joan Lehr (Greg) from Purcellville, VA, and her grandchildren Sabrina Kallberg and Mishra Sweet. Additionally, she leaves behind her niece Helene Leigh (James) and nephew Michael Lehr.

On April 3, 2026, interment will take place at 1:00 pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601.
