A Win For Homebuyers And Sellers: Welcome To The Evolution Of Residential Real Estate In Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland REALTORS® 2025 President Cheryl Abrams Davis released the following statement regarding the final approval of the NAR settlement agreement

“On Tuesday, November 26, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri granted final approval of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) settlement agreement in the Sitzer/Burnett case. The Court heard from all parties as well as objectors and the Department of Justice. Once arguments concluded, the Court quickly ruled to grant final approval.

While we are gratified that the Settlement was approved, Maryland’s REALTORS® have been leading the way in transparency and consumer empowerment by, for example, requiring written buyer representation agreements since 2016 as a matter of law.

As we know, change happens.  More change is likely to happen.  The best way to serve our clients and communities in whatever market and through whatever industry headwinds is through complete transparency and working with a REALTOR® bound by a strict Code of Ethics.

We encourage all people looking to buy or sell a home to visit our consumer site, MarylandHomeownership.com, to learn more about homebuying, selling, loan programs, and more.
