Indianapolis,IN โ€“ October 3, 2019 – The Maryland Federation of Republican Women won the national Betty Heitman Award for State Excellence during the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) 40th Biennial Convention held Sept. 27-29 in Indianapolis.

Twenty-three Heitman awards were given to states to reward excellence and achievement in the development of membership, campaign activities, programs, community relations and key state functions, said NFRW Achievement Awards Chair Linda Smith of Kansas. Named in honor of former NFRW President Betty Heitman (1978-1980), the biennial awards program is designed to foster communication and encourage a strong mentoring relationship between state federations and their clubs.
โ€œI am thrilled to be accepting this award on behalf of our almost 1200 members in 27 clubs from across our State!โ€ said MFRW President Diana Waterman. She added โ€œOur members have worked tirelessly to help elect Republicans to office, to share our Republican message with others, and to give back to our communities through our Literacy and Caring for America programs.โ€
