CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — Small business owners and entrepreneurs never rest in Calvert County. Residents will have the opportunity to welcome several new businesses in August, according to Calvert’s What’s Going Where map.
Wood Wire & Whimsy
Wood Wire & Whimsy is an independent multi-vendor market that sells vintage, refurbished and refinished home decor. The store will celebrate its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. and will be open that weekend from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day as a soft opening. The store will then have its grand opening on Sept. 13. The owners say the hours may change after the Sept. 13 opening and advise shoppers to keep an eye on their social media pages and website for the most up-to-date information.

Unauthorized Brewing
Unauthorized Brewing is the long-awaited North Beach brewery that moved into 9132 Bay Ave. in the spot previously occupied by The Bakist. The owners of Unauthorized describe the business as “a group of friends dedicated to bringing together delicious craft beer and great people.” They plan to serve craft beers in their intimate location and have been developing new brews during their renovation. They posted on July 31 to “stay tuned” for an opening date, so we’re holding out to see this highly anticipated business open its doors soon.

Buehler’s Marketplace
Buehler’s Marketplace is a museum and gift shop located at 4905 St. Leonard Road, St. Leonard. The market supports local history and local creations in order to celebrate St. Leonard’s past and present. The marketplace is hosting an open house for vendors on Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No registration is required to attend, though it is limited to vendors only. Their July 28 post says opening soon, so residents will get to enjoy another multi-vendor market.

Foster’s Grille
Foster’s Grille will open at 447 Solomons Island Road North “around Labor Day,” so we’re including it as part of the August roundup. Foster’s is a chain with locations in Virginia, Maryland and Florida, and is best known for their “charburger.” Other Foster’s locations feature wing nights, trivia nights and more, so there’s plenty to look forward to at this new restaurant.
Address: 447 Solomons Island Rd N, Prince Frederick, MD

There will be even more to come this fall, including Paws and Relax, Armory Terrapin Beers, Wines and Spirits, and several big-name brand stores planning to open their doors at the Armory Square shopping center.
