California, MDโ€” For years, St. Maryโ€™s County residents have wanted a new movie theater, one that was clean, updated ย and used new technology to enhance their movie experience.

What the residents of St. Maryโ€™s County received for their patience was just that, a family-pleasing movie theater.ย

RC Theaters now has a location across from the Wildwood Shopping Center, right off Three Notch Road in California. The movie theater features stadium seating with high-back rocking chairs and huge wall-to-wall curved screens. The theater is updated with the latest in digital technology including digital projection, DOLBY digital sound and 3D digital projection for 3D feature films.

For many of the residents of St. Maryโ€™s County, the movie chain, RC Theaters, may not be as recognizable as other movie giants. The chain has been growing. RC Theaters now has 10 different movie theaters throughout Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

โ€œBusiness has been very strong since we opened. We have had very strong ticket sales. Right now is a slower time of year for us because of the beginning of school, but we have some good titles that are opening up right now,โ€ said David Campbell, who is the general manager of the RC Theaters located in Hollywood.

RC Theatersโ€™ goal is a simple one, to provide that best movie experience possible.

โ€œThe customer is paying good money to see a movie, we want to make sure they get the best movie-going experience possible,โ€ said Campbell.

Campbell has been with RC Theaters for 10 years now. He brings his experience to St. Maryโ€™s County to benefit all movie-goers.

โ€œWe absolutely are so happy with our location in St. Maryโ€™s County. We have families from Naval Air Station Patuxent River and surrounding areas tell us they really enjoy this movie theater. We offer a military discount to our service men and women [active and retired]. Aspects that we always receive good comments on are the sound system and the comfortable seats,โ€ said Campbell.

The location of this movie theater is wonderful for residents in St. Maryโ€™s and Calvert counties. It is a short ride across the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge to experience a great movie with the family.

โ€œAlso, keep in mind, this facility can be utilized for events such as a group outing, if you have a church or a business that would enjoy getting together to watch a movie. You can also rent out auditoriums for a business presentation. We also do a video game night, the game is projected on the big screen. This facility has many potential purposes besides just watching a movie,โ€ said Campbell.

The movies these days are very expenses to enjoy, but RC Theaters provides a day they call bargain Tuesdays. Most of the movies on this day are $6, which is considerably cheaper than what a viewer normally pays to watch a movie.

โ€œNext year, families have the pleasure to look forward to free kids movies during the summer, we want to make sure families know that we are here for them,โ€ said Campbell.
