LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – On Thursday evening, September 5, 2024 police, and emergency personnel responded to reports of shots fired at Lancaster Park, prompting an immediate investigation and temporary closure of the facility.

Deputies arrived at approximately 6:35 p.m. to conduct a thorough search of the park and its perimeter, interviewing witnesses present at the time of the alleged incident. Despite these efforts, no physical evidence of a shooting, such as shell casings or bullet holes, was discovered.

As a precautionary measure, authorities closed the field and canceled scheduled practices.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about the incident to contact their office.

    1. This world also needs parents who donโ€™t falsely spread rumors. I heard some moms gossiping about it at another field in the county last night as it was happening. It started off the usual way, โ€œI heard thisโ€ and โ€œThey said this.โ€ Nothing good comes from gossip.
