On Dec. 28, Deputy R. Nielson stopped an Acura driven by Luis Barrera-Sarceno, 23 of Great Mills, for a traffic violation.  

Barrera-Sarceno did not appear to understand English and could not produce a driver’s license.  Barrera-Sarceno was asked to exit the vehicle.  Once outside of the vehicle Barrera-Sarceno continuously put his hands in his pockets, which caused an officer’s safety concern for Deputy Nielson. 

Deputy Nielson conducted a pat down on Barrera-Sarceno for his safety.  Deputy Nielson felt what he believed to be a weapon in Barrera-Sarceno’s left front pocket.  Deputy Nielson reached into the pocket and pulled out a cell phone and plastic baggie containing suspected powdered cocaine. 

Barrera-Sarceno was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
