On Dec. 28, Deputy R. Nielson stopped an Acura driven by Luis Barrera-Sarceno, 23 of Great Mills, for a traffic violation.ย ย 

Barrera-Sarceno did not appear to understand English and could not produce a driverโ€™s license.ย ย Barrera-Sarceno was asked to exit the vehicle.ย  Once outside of the vehicle Barrera-Sarceno continuously put his hands in his pockets, which caused an officerโ€™s safety concern for Deputy Nielson.ย 

Deputy Nielson conducted a pat down on Barrera-Sarceno for his safety.ย  Deputy Nielson felt what he believed to be a weapon in Barrera-Sarcenoโ€™s left front pocket.ย  Deputy Nielson reached into the pocket and pulled out a cell phone and plastic baggie containing suspected powdered cocaine.ย 

Barrera-Sarceno was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
