LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is not conducting raids in Lexington Park neighborhoods, despite social media claims to the contrary.

The Sheriff’s Office said it verified with the regional ICE office that no enforcement operations are taking place in the county. Some of the posts circulating online included photos suggesting deputies were assisting federal agents, but officials said that information is false.

Deputies in the area were instead carrying out investigative work connected to a stabbing reported on Saturday that also involved a vehicle strike.

Officials urged residents to rely on verified information through the Sheriff’s Office, local news outlets, and official social media channels rather than unverified posts.
