ย The ancitipation leading up to Friday nightโ€™s matchup between the North Point Eagles and the La Plata Warriors was so hyped, #NPNation was trending on Twitter. ย On a cold, rainy Friday night, North Point delivered with a resounding victory in their homecoming game.

ย
The North Point Eagles came out ready to play. ย Their defense forced five turnovers against a struggling La Plata Warriors offense. ย North Pointโ€™s offense didnโ€™t miss a beat; they found the end zone six times. ย North Point went on to win 44-0.
ย
โ€œThe players did a good job,โ€ North Point Head Coach Ken Lane said. ย โ€œWeโ€™ve had five straight tough games. ย We played a county opponent in La Plata and we have a tough game next week (at Westlake). ย Homecoming week is a lot of distractions but our players did a good job and they came out and played hard.โ€
ย
โ€œWe wanted to come out here and send a statement going in to the playoffs,โ€ Franklin Marshall, who scored two touchdowns, said. ย โ€œWe have one week left in the regular season against our rival and we definitely wanted to come out here and make a statement.โ€
ย
Franklin Marshall, Kevin Ramseur and DJ Briscoe also scored touchdowns in the 44-0 win. ย Bryce Fugitt kicked a field goal in the opening drive to start North Pointโ€™s rout of La Plata.
ย
North Point plays the Westlake Wolverines next week in the final regular season game.
ย
โ€œOur coaching staffs have worked together in the past,โ€ Lane said. ย โ€œI used to coach at Westlake; some of our kids went to middle school together. ย Theyโ€™re only a mile apart and theyโ€™re always one of the best programs in the state. ย Both teams will come in. ย The kids take a lot of pride in both schools, so itโ€™ll be a hard fought game. ย Itโ€™s got conference championship implications. ย Weโ€™re both going in to the playoffs, and both of us want to go in the playoffs with a win.โ€
