SEVERN, Md. — A Sunday evening traffic stop in Severn led to the arrest of an Odenton man wanted on a year-old warrant and now facing a new gun charge and multiple driving violations.

Around 7:30 p.m. on June 29, 2025 Anne Arundel County Police pulled over a red 2018 Kia on Telegraph Road near Donaldson Avenue. The driver, identified as 57-year-old Gerald Brown Jr., was found to have an active bench warrant related to a 2024 failure to appear in court. Officers also recovered a loaded 9mm Springfield Armory handgun during the stop, police said.

Court records show Brown’s warrant stemmed from a citation issued in January 2024. After missing a court date that May, a judge in Annapolis issued a bench warrant and his license was subsequently suspended. The warrant remained active until it was served following Sunday’s stop.

Brown is now charged with possessing a handgun in a vehicle, along with a series of traffic offenses including driving on a suspended license, operating a vehicle with canceled registration, and other licensing-related violations.

He was released on his own recognizance after an initial appearance on June 30. A trial scheduled for August 1 in Annapolis was later canceled due to a clerical error. A new court date has not been announced.
