On June 27, at 4:17 p.m., Trooper First Class Dawson responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision in the area of the 11300 block of HG Trueman Road in Lusby.
A vehicle ran off the roadway, striking mailboxes and other property, and left the scene. Witness information led TFC Dawson to the 600 block of Camp Canoy Road where the driver was located. Damian D. Weems, 37 of Lusby, was intoxicated and acting disorderly by yelling obscenities at the officers.
He resisted arrest and assaulted the Trooper during a brief struggle. He was placed under arrest and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. Neither TFC Dawson nor Weems was seriously injured during the incident.
