MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A head-on collision Friday afternoon, May 30, 2025, left one person dead and two others seriously injured in St. Mary’s County.
The crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. on Mechanicsville Road near Yowaiski Mill Road. Emergency crews arrived to find one vehicle with two occupants trapped inside and another vehicle with a deceased occupant, according to officials on the scene.
Firefighters extricated an adult and an adolescent within 20 minutes. Both will be flown to a nearby trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
Police are urging drivers to use caution and expect extended road closures in the area for several hours.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
