Oscar Mendoza, 78, of Lexington Park, MD, Passed Away
Oscar Peguerra Mendoza 78. Born in Pagbilao, Quezon City, Philippines. Passed away May 19, 2025 in his home with his wife, Thelma Mendoza.
Oscar was born to Dionisio Mendoza and Maria Peguerra on May 20, 1946. He resided in the Philippines until he joined the US Navy in 1969.
He married Thelma Sumicad in 1973. They had Dennis Glenn Mendoza in 1978 and Aimee Lynne Sumicad Mendoza in 1981.
Oscar served in the US Navy in the Supply Department from 1969 until he retired in 1988.
During his service he was stationed in California, Virginia, Japan, Australia and Maryland. Oscar earned his Associates degree from the College of Southern Maryland. He used this degree to work as a financial analyst.
Oscar had a passion for golfing and was an accomplished table tennis player. Among his hole in ones, Oscar was proud to have Callaway recognize his hole in one on October24, 2008.
Oscar was the Treasurer and Elder for the Patuxent Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Leonardtown, MD. He shared his love of singing by giving special music with his voice as well as leading in congregational singing.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Sumicad Mendoza. His son Dennis Mendoza and his Wife Rosa and their children Vanessa, Jonathan, and Dominic. His daughter Aimee Mendoza. His siblings Lilia, Gloria, Reden, Gerson, Miriam, nephews and nieces: Jerome, Justin and Donna Aviles, Ervin and Bryan Bernaldez, Marjorie and Ashley Osia, Nathan, Kristen, Maurice, Gerson Iveler, Enzo Mendoza. Ammiel Mendoza. Justin Johnson.
Oscar is predeceased by his father Dionisio and mother Maria Mendoza and sister Marissa Mendoza.
