DUNKIRK, Md. — A Laurel man faces multiple charges following a late-night traffic stop in Calvert County that led to allegations of reckless driving, driving without a license and providing false information to law enforcement, according to court records.

Alex Daniel Morales Ramirez, 20, was stopped shortly after 9:25 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2025, on Southern Maryland Boulevard near Chaney Road in Dunkirk after a sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle traveling 98 mph in a posted 55 mph zone, records show.

During the stop, Morales Ramirez communicated primarily in Spanish, and the deputy used translation assistance. Authorities determined he did not possess a valid driver’s license.

According to charging documents, Morales Ramirez claimed he was traveling to pick up medication for his mother and provided GPS directions to a McDonald’s restaurant in Dunkirk. Follow-up investigation and questioning later revealed inconsistencies in that account, leading to an arrest for making a false statement to a police officer.

In addition to the misdemeanor false statement charge, Morales Ramirez was cited for reckless driving, excessive speeding and driving on a highway without the required license or authorization.

Court records show Morales Ramirez was released on his own recognizance the next day. A trial scheduling hearing is set for Feb. 20, 2026, in Calvert County District Court.

  1. “Ramirez”? “False statement to the cops”? “No license”? “98mph in a 55 zone”? Sounds jailable to me. “Released on his own recog”????????

  2. While I’m thankful that you was able to arrest the driver at 98 mph, I wish you there was enforcement out on route4. They race from Plum Point to Dunkirk every day..mostly in the afternoon. I have several calls to the Sheriff Office.
Its sad that the speeds 55 and enforcement seems to never stop them. Don’t mention the speeders that leave the discount liquor store in Huntingtown. All there not enough offers, or do they care?
