LEONARDTOWN, Md. — We are receiving reports of a crash this afternoon that is sending one pediatric patient to a nearby trauma center by helicopter.

At approximately 4:33 p.m. on January 29, first responders were called to the scene in the 22000 block of Point Lookout Road, in the area of Whirlwind Road.

Initial reports had indicated that a single vehicle had been involved in a rollover crash off the road. Upon arrival, crews did not identify whether the vehicle had overturned, but they did note that all occupants of the vehicle had exited the vehicle which was off the roadway.

EMS on the scene soon after the crash made the determination to transport a single pediatric patient who was in the vehicle to a nearby trauma center for additional treatment. The age of the patient has not been disclosed at this time.

A helicopter from the Maryland State Police Aviation was called to land near Leonardtown High School to make the transport.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide additional details as they are made available.
