PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Two Prince Frederick parents were arrested after deputies determined a young child had been left unattended inside a salon for several minutes while they left the business, according to court documents.

Makayla Leeann Brehm, 20, and Dominique Matthew Williams, 23, both of Prince Frederick, were charged in connection with the March 26, 2026 incident at the Greene House Salon in the Central Square shopping center.

According to the statement of probable cause, deputies were dispatched around 1:13 p.m. for a reported neglect of a minor. A witness told officers she observed both parents enter the salon with a young child, but later noticed the child had been left alone on a couch inside the business with no parent in sight.

Employees told investigators they were unable to locate the parents and began searching nearby businesses before eventually finding them at Ledo Pizza. Workers reported the child had been left unattended inside the salon for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Deputies identified the parents as Brehm and Williams. During the investigation, Brehm acknowledged leaving the child inside the salon, stating it was only for a brief period. Williams also told deputies he “should have just brought him” when leaving the business.

Investigators learned the pair had arrived at the salon by scooter and that the child had been placed in a chest carrier before being left inside on a couch near the entrance.

Surveillance footage from inside the salon later confirmed that Brehm placed the child in a carrier on the couch and exited the business with Williams, returning nine minutes later.

Child Protective Services responded to the scene and evaluated the situation. According to the report, the child showed signs consistent with general neglect, including being dirty.

Based on the investigation, both Brehm and Williams were placed under arrest.

Both are charged with neglect of a minor and desertion of a minor child.

Court records show both were initially held without bond. During bail review hearings on March 27, 2026, before Judge Michelle R. Saunders in Calvert District Court, Brehm was released on her own recognizance, while Williams was released on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond.

A trial is set for May 20, 2026 in Calvert District Court.

  1. It’s disheartening that young parents with little good judgment, and no experience make a mistake like this and go to jail! That’s BS, and huge over reach. Nine minutes from the child’s side is not sufficient a crime to warrant jail. My brother in law was left at a gas station when he was eight by his dad and mom. We were miles down the road before realizing. No one called the police. No one called him negligent. Was it a bad mistake, yes it was but not criminal. There was no mention of drugs or abuse and the baby simply being dirty is not a crime! If these parents were instead schooled on how to protect their child this would have been an entirely different ending! I think someone just wanted to get them in trouble and called the police immediately, shame on them! Shame on the police for over reaction!

  2. Leaving a child unattended is wrong. But why is the punishment for him a bail of 5K when judges in Calvert routinely let drug and theft offenders out on personal recognizance? Calvert officials need to do better.
