
BOWIE, Md. – The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a scooter in Bowie. The scooter operator was killed in the crash. He is 58-year-old Carl Holby of Glenn Dale.
On September 29, 2021, at approximately 5:15 pm, officers responded to the 6100 block of High Bridge Road for a collision involving the scooter and an SUV. Holby was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later. The SUVโs driver was not hurt in the collision.
The preliminary investigation suggests Holby was traveling northbound on High Bridge Road prior to the collision. The driver of the SUV made a left turn from a shopping center in an attempt to go southbound on High Bridge Road. The scooter and SUV collided in the northbound lanes.
