The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, along with several other agences, were searching Tuesday for a man who reportedly fell into the Patuxent River near the Benedict Bridge.
At about 11 a.m., several witnesses called the Calvert County emergency switchboard, reporting that they saw a Hispanic man fall off a pier at the Hallowing Point Marina, just south of the bridge, near Route 231, police said.
Police said they do not know why the man fell into the river.
Rescue and dive teams from Calvert and Charles Counties, as well as the U.S. Coard Guard, the Natural Resources Police and Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 7 are assisting in the search.
