PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Prince Frederick man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he violated a protective order, caused a public disturbance, and was found with suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia during a tense series of events at the Silverwood Apartments last month.
According to court documents, deputies first encountered 30-year-old Chicago Alexander Garner on May 17, 2025, when they responded to a domestic call at an apartment on Alton Court. Garner and his mother, who had reportedly argued prior to law enforcement’s arrival, were both uncooperative with deputies. Garner allegedly yelled profanities at officers and drew the attention of nearby residents. Deputies advised the woman to obtain a protective order, which she did later that evening.
Roughly 45 minutes later, deputies were called back to a separate apartment in the same complex after another resident reported that Garner had threatened to fight him. Deputies instructed both men to remain apart for the evening. Despite those warnings, Garner reportedly continued walking around the complex, cursing at his mother and other residents, and refusing to remain calm while deputies attempted to maintain peace.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., a protective order was formally served to Garner. The order instructed him not to contact or harass his mother in any form. Garner allegedly ignored those conditions almost immediately, following her as she returned to her apartment and continuing to yell profanities at her. When a deputy stepped between the two, Garner is reported to have clenched his fist, backed into an officer, and tensed his body in what deputies believed was a pre-assault stance. Officers placed him under arrest to prevent further escalation.
During a search incident to arrest, deputies say they found a cut plastic straw in Garner’s pocket containing white powder residue suspected to be cocaine. A second piece of suspected paraphernalia was found in his other pocket, along with a torn plastic bag that deputies said is commonly used to store narcotics.
Garner was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with six separate misdemeanors, including violation of a protective order, disorderly conduct, intoxicated endangerment, possession of cocaine, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Under Maryland law, violation of a protective order is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for a first offense. Cocaine possession carries a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine, and each paraphernalia charge is punishable by up to one year and additional fines.
Garner posted a $5,000 unsecured personal bond the following day and was released. He is scheduled to appear in court for trial on July 30, 2025.
