PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. – Prince George’s County native and DeMatha Catholic High School alumni, Chase Young, is headed to Super Bowl LVIII. This marks the fifth time a DeMatha graduate has played in the Super Bowl.

The 49ers defensive end and former Commanders player will play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Young, who attended DeMatha during his junior and senior years, helped make the school the number four-ranked high school football team in the country. Young also played for Dematha’s basketball team.

Young would go on to play for Ohio State before being drafted second overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. On November 1, 2023, Young was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2024 special compensatory third-round draft pick.

  1. Not so fast Einstein. Probably just a coaches ploy to up his game but there’s a rumor that Chase may be benched for the big game. Apparently the 49ers have discovered why the Scumanders were eager to let him walk

    1. Hi Barney, sounds like you are no Einstein yourself.
In St Maryโ€™s County we are proud and so pleased to see another hard working, dedicated young man living his dream. Perhaps you should go back to where you came from to learn one of lifeโ€™s the golden rules. โ€œIf you canโ€™t say something nice donโ€™t say anything at all.โ€

Yeah ok, but what happened after he attained his dream? Why were we so eager to trade the “defensive rookie of the year” and why is SF considering benching him for their biggest game of the season? I was hoping that once he got away from the toxic enviornment in DC he would redidicate himself and achieve his full potential not just collect a paycheck. It leads me to believe the rumors that he was part of the problem in the locker room in DC. So glad he’s no longer our problem.
