LEONARDTOWN, Md. – As follow-up to United Bridge Partners’ presentation before the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County (CSMC) on April 18, where it demonstrated its track record of previously deploying over $900 million across five states, and rebuilding, and operating six bridges in need that were perpetually unfunded, and how it could deliver a similar solution for the Thomas Johnson Bridge, the company is hosting public forums to hear directly from the community.
The company is hosting four meetings in the county where it will present, provide two-minute timeslots for direct public comment and questions, and offer a survey. The meetings in the county will result in a report to be presented to the CSMC.
The meetings will take place from 7 – 8 p.m. at the following times and locations:
- Thursday September 28 – Lexington Park Library
21677 Franklin Delano Roosevelt Blvd, Lexington Park, MD 20653 - Tuesday, October 3 – Lexington Park Library

What a waste of time we all want a new bridge but certainly not a toll bridge
Making it a toll bridge will NOT solve the issues with this bridge. It needs to be expanded and lowered. This will help with the increased traffic, and reduce suicide attempts. Just my thoughts.
So, we pay taxes that are supposed to go to infrastructure- now a private company wants to make millions by building a private bridge and charging a toll? Haha how y’all republicans feel about that?
Bridge isn’t getting replaced
I don’t like this.
We pay so much taxes already.
Maryland is one of the most taxing state in our Country.Yet it’s one of the smallest states. Enough,,, we are taxed to the limit.
Get your act together government.
How dare you do this.
Putting a toll bridge in is a ridiculous idea. I thought what is payed out in taxes was meant to cover such things. Anything to Nickle and dime everyone.
Yes to a toll bridge! That will eliminate a lot of traffic in Calvert! I never use that bridge and I live in lusby, it won’t hurt my feelings one bit
So let’s take the onus off state and county leadership to use tax funds to benefit the people and instead allow a private company to line their pockets. It’s not likely that this company will give back to the communities in any way nor is it likely that they give the first fart about the communities. How about state and county leadership open their eyes and do something that benefits the people of these neighboring counties with all the tax money they steal from us.
I agree, NO Toll Bridge .
I wonder what this company’s safety record is. Have they been involved in any litigation in any other state where they’ve done business. What is their on-time completion rate? What is the average toll they charge in bridges they have built? What is the timeframe for how long they can collect a toll? Why is St. Mary’s County Government not working with the state to get this done? Are there no federal grants that would help with this? Does a corporation outside of St. Mary’s county really have the best interest of the citizens there? Where does your county commissioner stand on this?
Hoyer?…Steny?…Hoyer?… (Steny Hoyer’s Day Off)?
$9 per crossing is way too expensive!
