OXON HILL, Md. — A hit-and-run crash in Prince George’s County has left a Washington, D.C. family grieving and a community seeking justice after 25-year-old Marquise Maddox died from his injuries over the weekend.

Maddox was struck around 9:50 p.m. on May 28, 2025, at the intersection of Eastbound Oxon Hill Road and Livingston Road, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department. Officers responded to the scene and found Maddox in the roadway with significant trauma. The driver involved did not remain at the scene, police said.

After days in critical condition, Maddox died from his injuries on Sunday, June 1.

The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle and the driver. Authorities have not released a description of the vehicle involved but are urging anyone with information to call 301-731-4422.

In the days following his death, friends and family launched a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses. The GoFundMe campaign, titled Help Give Marquise a Beautiful Farewell, describes Maddox—also known by the nickname “Kuisy”—as “truly a special person who brought immense joy to everyone around him.”

“He had such a gentle and sweet spirit and a vibrant personality that could light up any room,” the campaign reads. “To know Marquise was to know someone who would go above and beyond for anyone, always ready to lend a helping hand, even if it meant sacrificing his own needs.”

The post goes on to say that Maddox “was the life of every party, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.”

As of Tuesday, the fundraiser had raised $1,500 of its $15,000 goal. Organizers wrote that they hope to give Maddox the “beautiful service he so deserves—the kind of service he would undoubtedly provide for any of us.”

The campaign can be found here.

Police have not released any new leads as of June 3, and the investigation remains active.
