LEONARDTOWN, Md. – If you’ve ever dreamed of channeling your inner Alex Ovechkin—this time, with a pair of roller blades instead of ice skates—now’s your chance. St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is kicking off its Adult Roller Hockey League, promising Wednesday night excitement at the Leonard Hall Recreation Center.

The league, which begins with team selection on January 15, 2025, offers hockey enthusiasts an opportunity to lace up and hit the rink for a workout that’s as exhilarating as it is effective. Games start promptly at 8:00 p.m., making it the perfect midweek escape for sports lovers.

The league isn’t just about hockey—it’s about community, competition, and conditioning. Whether you’re a seasoned roller hockey player or someone looking for a unique way to stay active, this event is open to everyone.

Participants are reminded that full equipment is required for safety: helmets with face shields, sticks, shoulder pads, gloves, protective pants, and, of course, roller blades. Team captains will draft players before the games begin, adding a layer of suspense to the start of the season.
