LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Family Skate is returning to the Leonard Hall Recreation Center, located at 23145 Leonard Hall Drive in Leonardtown. Skating will be held every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the newly renovated sports arena. Entry is $5 per person and skate rental is $2.50 each.
Anyone interested in Family Skate can pre-register online, and dates are available on Sundays through Dec. 28 of this year. You can also pay at the door when you get there to participate in this fun weekly event.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and children cannot be carried at any time while participating in skating. Strollers are not permitted in the designated skating areas, and food and drink are not permitted on the skate floor. Skaters can contact Recreation and Parks for a complete list of rules or view them online.
The sports arena was renovated in 2023 and updated in October 2025 to install new floor tiles and complete concrete leveling. The updated floors allow for a variety of activities, including soccer, roller skating, roller hockey and more. The new surface creates a safer, smoother experience.
The arena is also available for skate parties outside of scheduled Family Skate times. The updates add to the year-round opportunities for families who like skating or those looking to try something new when the outdoors are just a little too cold for comfort.
