LA PLATA, Md. — Two Temple Hills women have been charged with felony theft in connection with a shoplifting incident at a Waldorf department store in which police say more than $1,500 worth of merchandise was stolen.
Kayleen Lisette Lazo, 18, and Marcelina Lazo Rosales, 36, are each charged with theft of property valued at $1,500 to under $25,000 following a Dec. 12, 2025, incident at the Macy’s store at St. Charles Towne Center.
Officers were called to the store shortly after 5 p.m. after loss prevention personnel reported a suspected shoplifting incident involving multiple individuals. Investigators said the suspects placed clothing and perfume items into a black baby stroller while inside the store, concealing the merchandise as they moved through the sales floor.
Store personnel told police the suspects exited the store without paying and were stopped near an elevator by loss prevention officers. The stolen items were recovered from the stroller, with the total value of the merchandise estimated at approximately $1,548, according to charging documents.
Police said the theft was observed by store personnel and captured on the store’s surveillance system. Court records indicate the suspects were accompanied by family members at the time of the incident.
Both defendants were released on their own recognizance following their arrests on Dec. 12, 2025. Court records show both cases are scheduled for trial on Jan. 28, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
