SCOTLAND, Md. — A single vehicle overturned off Point Lookout Road in Scotland Friday night, but the driver refused medical treatment after being evaluated by emergency crews. The rollover occurred around 10:47 p.m. on September 12, 2025, near 12438 Point Lookout Road.

Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad units responded to the Scotland vehicle rollover along with local fire department resources. Chief 4A arrived first on scene and confirmed the vehicle was on its roof with the single occupant already out of the overturned car.

The driver was quickly placed in Ridge VRS ambulance A498 for medical evaluation following the rollover crash. Emergency medical personnel assessed the patient at the scene to determine if transport to a hospital was necessary.

Squad 4 and Engine 41 arrived to assist with vehicle stabilization operations and debris cleanup. Crews worked to clear debris from the homeowner’s yard and driveway where the overturned vehicle came to rest after leaving the roadway.

The patient ultimately signed a care refusal form, declining further medical treatment or transport to a hospital. All emergency units cleared the Scotland rollover scene at 11:13 p.m., approximately 26 minutes after the initial dispatch.

The cause of the single-vehicle rollover remains undetermined. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no injuries were reported requiring hospital treatment.

Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad provided mutual aid for the medical response while local St. Mary’s County fire units handled vehicle stabilization and scene cleanup operations.
