
ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Volleyball team (2-1) hosted Mary Baldwin University (0-2) for their first home contest of the 2024 season. The Seahawks defeated the Fighting Squirrels in three straight sets.

How it Happened
- The Seahawks and Fighting Squirrels played a back and forth first set in which neither team led by more than four at any point. Mary Baldwin reached set point at 26-25 in the first set, but St. Mary’s dug in and scored the final three points of the set to win 28-26.
- St. Mary’s stayed in control throughout the majority of the second set. The Seahawks led by as much as ten at one point and went on to take the set, 25-17.
- The Seahawks came out fast in the third set and created a lead of 18-9 before Mary Baldwin began chipping away. The Fighting Squirrels shrunk the Seahawk lead to just two and eventually reached a one point deficit at 23-22. Once again, the St. Mary’s squad showed mental toughness at the end of the set and closed out Mary Baldwin 25-22 to win the match.
