
UPDATE —The woman has been located safe. Crews found her around 7:28 p.m. and are transporting her out of the area using a UTV. No injuries have been reported.
CALLAWAY, Md. — Multiple emergency crews are actively searching for a missing woman reported lost on a trail Saturday evening at St. Mary’s River State Park.
According to emergency dispatch information, units were alerted around 6:45 p.m. on March 21, 2026, for a rescue search party near the park’s main entrance, boat ramp and playground area along Camp Cosoma Road in Callaway.
Authorities said the woman’s phone was pinging in the area of the park, with coordinates placing her near a trail around mile marker 2.5. A map event was initiated to assist responders in narrowing down her location.
Multiple units, including search teams and emergency medical personnel, were dispatched to the scene. Crews have organized into several search parties working through the wooded terrain as they attempt to locate the individual.
Officials have not released additional details about the woman or the circumstances that led to her becoming lost.
The search remains active as crews continue efforts in the area.
