Prince Frederick, MD – After being killed on a split vote last month, a request from the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office for $76,000 from the Safety Camera Program was unanimously approved by the county commissioners Tuesday, Oct. 2. According to Assistant Sheriff Lt. Colonel Dave McDowell, the funds will be used to replace obsolete technology used by agency personnel utilizing the Mobile Command Vehicle.

Commissionersโ€™ President Evan K. Slaughenhoupt Jr. [R-District 3], who raised objections previously since the sheriffโ€™s office request had not been reviewed by the Department of Public Safety, noted that the departmentโ€™s director, Jacqueline Vaughan, and Calvert County Stateโ€™s Attorney Laura Martin were consulted.
County Administrator Terry Shannon told the board that effective Oct. 1 a resolution was no longer required for a budget adjustment of $76,000.

In a previous memo, McDowell stated that the new technology county government staff had identified will bring the Mobile Command Vehicle โ€œup to current optimal operating standards.โ€
