
CALLAWAY, Md. — A two-vehicle crash on Piney Point Road near Wise Road on Tuesday evening left three people injured, with one requiring an airlift to a trauma center.
The incident occurred around 7:25 p.m., January 28, 2025, when fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found both vehicles off the roadway with occupants trapped inside. Firefighters worked swiftly to extricate the individuals before transferring them to EMS for treatment.

Emergency medical personnel assessed three patients at the scene and determined that one had sustained critical injuries, necessitating transportation via Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter. A landing zone was established at the old Second District firehouse to facilitate the MEDEVAC.
Piney Point Road remains closed near Wise Road as authorities conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
