Sheriff’s office car involved in crash

Budds Creek, MD – On Sunday morning, July 17 a motor vehicle crash was reported on Budds Creek Road in the area of Knotts Lane. The crash occurred at approximately 8 a.m.

While the initial call indicated a motorist was trapped in a vehicle, the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) reported that crews arrived “to find one person still in their vehicle, however, not trapped.”

One of the vehicles involved was a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office patrol car. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Jennifer Stone told The BayNet the deputy driving the patrol car was in the area conducting radar when another motorist struck his vehicle. Stone reported the neither driver was seriously injured. The MVFD reported that one of the motorists was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.
