Sherri Ann Guy of Clements, Maryland passed away on March 22, 2026 after a courageous fight against cancer. Sherri was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, valued sister and fierce friend. She was a natural conversationalist who made everyone in the room feel included and valued. Sherri was able to find beauty and joy in each moment. Her positivity truly brought a smile to those around her and she was known for her great sense of humor. She was the light in the dark.

Born to Jacob Rue Barnes and Winifred Irene Barnes on April 08, 1956 in Troy, Ohio, Sherri spent most of her childhood there, making friends and memories. During her high school years, her family moved to Alderson, West Virginia., where she met lifelong friends and made sure to attend West Virginia State Fair for many years to come. Right before she graduated high school, her family moved to St. Maryโ€™s County, Maryland, where Sherri worked at Ben Franklin and First National Bank of Leonardtown in Leonardtown Square, and often told colorful stories about that time in her life. Sherri later began her 30+ year career with the United States Government, supporting the FBI, Naval Research Lab, US Navy Contracts, and US Air Force contracts. After retirement, she supported numerous DoD Contractors.

Sherri married her husband Roy on July 21, 1984. They spent over forty years together. Sherri and Roy were best friends and had a special type of love that was only understood by them. In later years, they could be found on the swing in the front yard counting cars, while talking about the dayโ€™s events. They loved to ride around the farm together, checking on crops and simply being in each otherโ€™s company. Sherri and Roy welcomed one daughter, Emmilee, in 1991. Sherri was an incredible mother who supported Emmilee in everything that she did. Whether it was the night before St. Maryโ€™s County Fair 4H entries were due or years later, after her grandson arrived, Sherri did everything in her power to make sure Emmilee was taken care of. Sherri adored her grandson, Harrison, and while their time together was short, it was full of unconditional love, fun, and โ€œmoochiesโ€ from Gammie.

Sherri genuinely understood the value in giving back to her community. She was a huge supporter of the St. Maryโ€™s County 4H program. During the holidays, she sought out โ€œAngel Treesโ€ which provided Christmas gifts to local children in need. She cared so deeply about the people in her life and will be missed by all.

Sherri leaves behind her husband Roy, daughter Emmilee (Alex), grandson Harrison, brothers Roger Barnes (Lou), Charles Barnes (Susan), Bruce Barnes (Kathy), and sister Rhonda Barnes, who never left her side. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she all adored. To know Sherri is to love her.
