On September 15, 2025, Shirley Evans, 87, of La Plata, MD, passed away. Shirley was born on February 2, 1938, in Asheville, NC, to the late Baxter and Milam Renfro.
Shirley worked as a manager for A&P Grocery Store for over 20 years. Her dedication and leadership were evident as she guided her team. Shirley’s commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire those around her made her a beloved figure in the workplace.
In her free time, she enjoyed going bowling, playing horseshoes, and playing poker. Most of all, though, she loved to spend time with her family.
On February 5, 1955, Shirley married the late William “Bill” Evans. The two were blessed with four children: Marcia Miklovic of Prince Frederick, MD, Donna “Renee” Evans of Wheeling, WV, Deborah “Debbie” White of Little River, SC, and Timothy “Tim” Evans of Waldorf, MD.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband, brothers Dean and Bud Renfro, and children, Marcia and Debbie. She is survived by her two children, Renee and Tim, and her sisters: Ann Clapp and Phyllis DeLeon. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandchildren: Brandi Garcia, Toby Constantino, Deanna Evans, Carly Gentry, and Brianna Evans, along with great-grandchildren Jack Ayden, Andres Garcia, Madelyn Constantino, Nicolas Garcia, and Lyla Gentry.
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, with the memorial service beginning at 1:00 pm at LifeStream Church of the Nazarene, located at 5105 Leonardtown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601. A repast will be held in the church hall after the service.
