On July 3 at 10:40 a.m., officers responded to Safeway in Bryans Road for the report of a theft.
According to an employee, Tamika Darnita Myers, 24 of Washington, D.C., entered the store and placed two containers of crabmeat in her purse. As she exited the store, an employee tried to stop her but Myers went to her car. The employee followed and as Myers pulled out of the parking space, she struck the employee’s leg.
A lookout was broadcast and responding officers canvassed the area. Myers was located at a nearby shopping center where she was placed under arrest.
She was charged with theft and first-degree assault. The employee was not seriously injured. Officer Walden is investigating.
