WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man accused of firing multiple rounds at a vehicle during a late-night shooting in February has been released from custody just days after his arrest, according to court records.
Casey Maleen Holt, 33, of Waldorf, is charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses stemming from the February 28, 2026 incident, including two counts of first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, and additional handgun and assault-related charges.
According to the statement of probable cause, deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 9:32 p.m. to the 11400 block of Indian Hills Place in Waldorf for a reported shooting.
Investigators say two individuals were sitting inside a vehicle in a parking lot when a man driving a tan or gold GMC Yukon pulled in and partially blocked them. The man exited the SUV and began yelling at the occupants before allegedly striking the rear driver’s side window with a handgun.
As the victims attempted to flee, the suspect is accused of firing multiple rounds at the vehicle with a 9mm handgun, striking it several times before fleeing the scene in the Yukon.
Authorities later reviewed video footage and witness statements, which they say helped identify Holt as the suspect. Investigators noted the suspect vehicle matched a GMC Yukon associated with Holt and was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting.
The investigation also revealed a separate incident earlier in February involving a domestic-related call. According to court documents, a woman reported that Holt threatened her during a verbal dispute, demanding her phone and making threats of violence before she left the residence. No physical assault was reported in that incident.
Detectives later executed a search warrant at a Waldorf residence on March 13, where Holt was located and taken into custody. During the search, investigators recovered handgun holsters and multiple boxes of 9mm ammunition. The GMC Yukon believed to be used in the shooting was also located nearby with damage consistent with the earlier incident, including a missing front bumper and front-end damage.
Holt was initially held without bond following his arrest on March 13, 2026. However, after a bail review hearing on March 16, Judge Sally C. Chester ordered his release on personal recognizance.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 3, 2026, in Charles District Court.
