Prince Frederick, MD – Calvert County is stuck in the middle of winter but there is anticipation in the air that when 2017 warms up there will be some cool outdoor shows to attend. The one-year hiatus is apparently over for the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department (SLVFD, Company 7). In 2016 the outdoor venue, the Bayside Toyota Pavilion, hosted no concerts. In the past the local fire company has had headliners such as Sheryl Crow, Alan Jackson, Hootie and the Blowfish, Reba McEntire, Alabama, Sugarland and Foreigner performing on stage to appreciative fans. Last year Company 7 took a break.

โ€œThe members of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department are pleased to announce the return of the 2017 concert series,โ€ Company 7 officials posted on the department web site. Up-and-coming country-rock singer Hunter Hayes is booked for Saturday evening, June 24 show at Bayside Toyota Pavilion. The versatile performer plays several instrumentsโ€”including the accordionโ€”and is a five-time Grammy nominee. Hayes will be touring Europe in March. According to Company 7, tickets for Hunter Hayesโ€™ June 24 show will go on sale for SLVFD Fan Club Members Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. and for the general public Tuesday, March 14 at 10 a.m.

Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa has revealed a few performers who will be part of the 2017 Rock the Dock series. Ricky Skaggs, whose half-century career began at age 12, is scheduled to perform under the band shell in Chesapeake Beach June 22. The Kentucky native has had a celebrated career in both country and bluegrass music. Skaggs was the Country Music Associationโ€™s 1985 Entertainer of the Year.

Also scheduled to โ€œRock the Dockโ€ in 2017 are the legendary funk/soul group The Commodores and countryโ€™s Eli Young Band. The Commodores are booked for Aug. 15 and EYB is scheduled for Sept. 4.
