
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Tennis Team (1-1) earned their first win of the year at the PTR Spring Tennis Fest. The Seahawks defeated the Lynchburg Hornets (2-3) 5-2.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Cleopatra Solomon and Amber Manspeaker competed in the first doubles match and picked up a 8-1 victory.
- Giselle Harris and Lauren Lovejoy defeated the Hornets in the number two doubles match, 8-2.
- Blessing Samuel and Ayden Daniel were defeated in the number three doubles match, falling 8-1.
Singles
- Cleopatra Solomon represented the Seahawks in the number one singles match and came up with a 6-1, 6-4 two set victory.
- Amber Manspeaker defeated her Lynchburg opponent in two sets, winning 7-5 and 6-3 in the number two match.
- Giselle Harris overcame a 5-2 deficit in the first set of the number three match to come back to win 7-5. Harris won the second set 6-3 to win the match.
- Lauren Lovejoy won the first set of the number 4 match by a score of 6-3. Lovejoy fell into a 4-1 deficit in the second set, but came all the way back to earn a tie break. Lovejoy fell in the second set tie break, but went on to win the third set, 10-6.
- Melak Armstrong dropped the number five singles match in two sets, falling 6-4 and then 6-2.
