ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Summer in the capital city is about to get a lot cooler.
The City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department announced that both the Kenneth R. Dunn Municipal Pool at Truxtun Park and the Harbour House Pool in Eastport will open for the season on Saturday, May 24, kicking off what city leaders hope will be a splash-filled summer for families and fitness fans alike.
“It’s time to grab your goggles, slather on the sunscreen, and dive into the fun our Rec and Parks aquatics team has in store for you and your family!” said Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. “There’s no better place to beat the heat and make connections with friends and neighbors at the local pool.”
Hours and Holidays
The Dunn Pool, located at 251 Pumphouse Road, will begin with weekday hours from 3 to 7 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until June 13, when it transitions to daily hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Harbour House Pool, at 1165 Madison Street, will operate weekdays from 3 to 5 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., also shifting to daily 11-to-5 hours starting June 13.
There are a few adjusted holiday schedules:
- Memorial Day (May 26) and Independence Day (July 4): Both pools open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- June 24 and July 8: Dunn Pool will open at 11:30 a.m. due to scheduled swim meets.
Dive Into Fitness
This season brings a fresh wave of fitness options at the Dunn Pool. Beginning the week of June 16, swimmers can join returning classes like Water Aerobics, Aqua Cycle, and Aqua Trampoline Tabata—plus a brand-new Aqua Flow class designed to blend resistance training and mindful movement.
For those just learning the ropes, more than 30 youth swim classes are open for registration, starting with kids as young as 3 years old. Classes are capped at six students and last 30 minutes each.
Pool Parties and Passes
The Dunn Pool is also a go-to spot for summer birthday bashes or group get-togethers, offering two weekend time slots (11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.) for pool parties.
