LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ThinkBig Networks, LLC, to provide county residents in the service area a choice when considering the purchase of Broadband Service.
The public-private partnership for fiber-to-the-home broadband service from ThinkBig will expand service offerings in the county and is a result of collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, other county departments and the provider.
Bob Kelly, Chief Information Officer, addressed the Commissioners Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at the regular business meeting and said about ThinkBig, “I think they are very eager to come into the county.”
Commissioner President Randy Guy said, “This MOU reaffirms the Commissioner’s determination to provide services to every county resident. We are committed to ensuring our citizens have access to internet services and will continue to press toward our goal of 100% connectivity across the county.
Since 2020, the Commissioners have allocated $10,013,325 to fund broadband infrastructure improvements in St. Mary’s County.
The Commissioner’s discussion and decision regarding the new internet service provider and MOU can be viewed here.

Anything’s better than Breezeline!
AOL dialup discs are better than Breezeline
could we go ahead + have co- op internet pleas?e internet for people, not for profit? we need a willing + able supplier. [provider]
My Breezeline is now 97.00 a month for high speed, but the upload and download numbers do not reflect it. One computer struggles to stay connected, and the main PC is hit-and-miss. I can be watching a great show on YTP, and it drops out. The first bit of rain, and it drops out. Then I am stuck with my recordings on the DVR.
I hate Breezeline too, but one device failing to stay connected to the Internet is not the fault of the ISP. As for the rain issue, that’s pretty unusual for a wired network, and you should have a tech come out to investigate. I found, with Breezeline, it takes a few visits to solve the issue.
My apologies, $93.39.
Same my bill went from 49$ to 110$ to 130$ in two years. Breezeline is awful.
The monthLy cost of our Breezeline internet service has nearly doubled since we first got it. The quality and reliability have not changed, in fact outages have become more common. An alternative would be welcome here.
This is so true. I only have internet and pay about $100 dollars.
How could this county have no competition/an exclusive deal for 1 company all this time? It certainly did not benefit the consumers, so who benefitted?
