
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – During the Juneteenth celebration located at John G. Lancaster Park on Saturday, June 15, 2024, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office’s Corporal Holton received a prestigious Service Recognition Award from the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributors (UCAC).
“This award highlights Corporal Holton’s dedication to our community and his commitment to making a positive impact,” stated the Sheriff’s Office via social media. “His efforts exemplify the values we hold dear, fostering unity and understanding among all citizens”

Since the fall of 1994, UCAC, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, has celebrated the contributions of African Americans and recorded the oral histories of some of St. Mary’s County’s oldest black residents. The Committee participates in a variety of events throughout the year, most notably, the annual Juneteenth celebration.
