Police Find Crack in Mechanicsville
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputy Angela Muller was patrolling in the area of Kavanaugh Road in Mechanicsville. Deputy Muller heard what sounded to be a gun shot coming from a residence on Kavanaugh Road and observed two people running from the house. Deputy Muller later identified the parties as James Sterling Thompson and Helen Theresa Joy when she stopped the vehicle they fled from the scene in. Thompson was found to be wanted on a Bench Warrant for failing to appear in court on 08-10-05. A search incident to arrest netted a smoking device, crack cocaine and money that Suspect Thompson attempted to toss away from his possession. Suspect Joy’s car was searched and a smoking device was located.
Both Suspects were arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Thompson was charged with Failing to Appear, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and Possession of CDS and is currently awaiting a court date. Joy was charged with Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana and is currently awaiting a court date.

Ridge Resident Arrested for Bad Check

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy First Class Michael Worrey located Suspect Robyn Lee O’Neil age 42 of Ridge and served her with a Criminal Summons for bad check under $100. Suspect O’Neil allegedly wrote a check to Wal-Mart in the amount of $90.20 without having sufficient funds to cover same. Suspect O’Neil was arrested, charged with Bad Check Under $100 and released on her personal recognizance. Suspect O’Neil is currently awaiting a court date.

Mechanicsville Man Arrested for Driving Drunk

Deputy Milton Pesante of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling in the Mechanicsville area when he observed a vehicle being driven by Suspect Steven Daniel Pyles, Jr. fail to stop for a stop sign. Deputy Pesante activated his emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle. Upon making contact with the driver, Suspect Pyles, Deputy Pesante detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Suspect Pyles was administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Suspect Pyles was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired. Suspect Pyles is currently awaiting a Preliminary Inquiry court date.
