USA Baseball is the national governing body for baseball in the United States, and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee and the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The organization is responsible for the selection of the United States national team for various international competition, including the senior professional team (World Baseball Classic, Olympic, Premier12, and Pan American Games), the collegiate national team, the various youth national teams (18U, 15U, and 12U), and the women’s national team.

Led by the USA Baseball Director of Coaching Development, the clinic will cover best practices when instructing youth athletes on hitting, throwing, fielding, and pitching. As well, coaches will be given tips on practice planning, helpful drills and games to aid development, and methods to keep practices and games fun for all to build a fulfilling and enjoyable baseball experience.

Registration for the Youth Baseball Coaching Clinic is free and open to all. SMCYO believes strongly that the success of youth baseball is built on engaged, enthusiastic, and educated coaches, and encourages coaches and assistant coaches (and of course any parents who may be interested in coaching!) at all levels to attend and grow their coaching knowledge to improve the youth baseball experience in St. Mary’s County.

SMCYO offers local, affordable baseball experiences to all boys and girls ages 3.5 – 12 years. The league is firmly rooted in the belief in sports as part of local community, where kids can grow and develop as players and people. SMCYO offers families a chance to practice and play at fields close to their homes, with opportunities for children to play with their friends, neighbors, schoolmates and relatives. SMCYO baseball focuses heavily on player development and character growth, emphasizing building fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and lifelong love of the game while providing various competitive opportunities to inspire youth athletes to excel. All children, of all levels of skill and experience, are welcome to join the SMCYO community.

Registration for all age groups is now open for the Spring Season and you can sign up at https://www.smcyo.com/
