LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Detective Edward “Ed” Vogt of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his decades of distinguished law enforcement service and ongoing commitment to public safety.

Vogt received the award on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, during the Boumi Shriners’ First Responder Awards Ceremony, which celebrates outstanding achievements by law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel across Maryland.

A retired Baltimore City Police officer, Vogt joined the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office in June 2018 as a Fraud Investigator within the Criminal Investigations Division. Since then, he has earned a reputation for diligence, professionalism, and integrity, becoming a respected member of the agency’s investigative team.

Currently serving as the investigator for the Sex Offender Registry, Vogt plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with registration requirements and protecting community safety.

Sheriff Steve Hall and members of the Sheriff’s Office praised Vogt’s exceptional career, calling the Lifetime Achievement Award a reflection of his “enduring dedication to justice and the safety of the citizens of St. Mary’s County.”
