At 11:50 p.m. on August 3, patrol officers responded to an address in Lexington Park, for a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, Edmond Travis Copeland, a 25 year old man from Virginia, and discovered he was suffering from stab wounds.
Officers immediately administered CPR and the victim was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation was assumed by the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI). As a result of their investigation Eric Anthony Brooks Jr., an 18 year old male of Lexington Park, was charged with 2nd degree murder and incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
